Missing Person Alert: Charleston County Authorities Seek Public's Help In Locating Missing Juvenile Ryan Leal

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating 12-year-old Ryan Leal, who was reported missing after leaving his home on Johns Island on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan was last seen around noon departing his residence in the 2900 block of Hollington Road. Since that time, family members and law enforcement officials have been unable to determine his whereabouts, prompting an active search effort and a public appeal for information.

Ryan is described as 12 years old, approximately 5 feet tall, weighing around 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The only known clothing description available indicates that he was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and sneakers when he was last seen.

Investigators have stated that Ryan does not currently have a known cell phone number, making it more difficult for authorities and family members to establish contact with him. As a result, officials are urging residents throughout Johns Island and surrounding communities to remain alert and report any potential sightings immediately.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case and following up on any leads that may help locate Ryan safely. Deputies are encouraging homeowners, businesses, and drivers in the area to review security camera footage or dashcam recordings that may provide information about his movements after leaving home.

Family members are understandably concerned for Ryan’s well-being and are hoping that increased public awareness will assist in bringing him home safely. Community members have already begun sharing information through social media and local networks in an effort to aid the search.

Anyone who has information regarding Ryan Leal’s location or who may have seen him since Thursday afternoon is urged to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700. If contact is made with Ryan outside of normal business hours, authorities ask that Charleston County Consolidated Dispatch be notified immediately at 843-743-7200.

The search remains ongoing as investigators work to reunite Ryan safely with his family.
